MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN

The Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Pediatrics and Childrens Specialty Group seeks a full-time sleep medicine faculty candidate to join our growing Pediatric Sleep Medicine Program. The faculty candidate should have a focus in behavioral sleep medicine.

Opportunity:

  • The Childrens Wisconsin Sleep Center is the only sleep center in Wisconsin dedicated solely to the care of children. The sleep center encompasses an interdisciplinary team including board-certified sleep physicians, pulmonologists, neurologists, otolaryngologists, psychologists, and advanced practice providers. Sleep medicine fellows participate in the Center activities.
  • The Childrens Wisconsin Sleep Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and includes robust ambulatory sleep clinics and a state-of-the-art sleep laboratory.
    • The sleep clinics see children and adolescents with diagnoses that include NREM parasomnias, restless leg syndrome/periodic limb movement disorder, narcolepsy, and obstructive sleep apnea. In addition, a significant proportion of children have either behavioral insomnia of childhood, chronic insomnia, or insomnia complicating a co-morbid developmental or psychiatric disorder.
    • There is an active CPAP program that follows >300 patients with obstructive sleep apnea who are home on CPAP. Expertise in the principle and practice of CPAP desensitization is a plus.
    • The sleep laboratory is an 8-bed facility with the ability to perform comprehensive diagnostic testing for children of all ages, doing >1500 sleep studies per year.
    • Substantial expansion is planned over the next 2-3 years.
  • Primary clinical responsibilities for the sleep faculty include outpatient sleep clinics and interpretation of sleep studies.
    • The recruited faculty member will have the opportunity to take the lead with program development for the behavioral sleep medicine component of the practice.
  • Clinical research opportunities are available within the division as well as collaborations within the medical college.
  • Faculty are active participants in the training of students, residents, and fellows, including our ACGME-accredited sleep medicine fellowship.
  • The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine has consistently ranked among the top programs by US News & World Report.

Education, Training, and Experience Required:

  • Qualifications include an M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion a pediatric residency.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Sleep Medicine
