Pediatric Neonatologist

We are seeking for a Board Certified/Board Eligible clinical Neonatologist to join the Ambulatory Division of the Department of Inpatient Pediatrics to treat newborn infants with breathing disorders, birth defects, or infections. The Neonatologist will manage the medical care for at-risk newborns, contribute to the clinical, research, and teaching missions of The MetroHealth System pediatric residents and neonatal fellows.

Requirements:

  • Doctor Osteopathy (D.O.) or Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) required.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible Neonatology
  • ECMO training is desirable

Responsibilities:

  • Provide prenatal care for high-risk infants
  • Assist in premature or problematic deliveries, help if complications arise or if medical attention is necessary immediately after birth
  • Caring for infants' nutrition to ensure optimal growth and development
  • Find alternative ways to feed infants who struggle to suckle
  • Assist with medications and treating infants born with infections or contract after birth
  • Perform heart-lung bypass procedures for infants with breathing difficulties due to underdeveloped or damage heart and lungs
  • Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history
  • Prescribe and interpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information for possible infections or abnormalities
  • Advise parents of infant's condition, help them understand and make decisions regardingtreatment
  • Ensuring parents have sufficient opportunities to bond with their infant
  • Conduct research and clinical trials
