Summary:

The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinicalsetting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness ofall relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complexcare, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continuesto develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies ofclinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates toother care providers as a means to help manage the clinicalsituation.

Acute Telemetry is a30-bed unit that consists of a dynamic team. We are seeking nursesto join our faith-based organization that is founded on compassionand dedication in serving the rapid growing community. Responsibilities:

Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUSCompetencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader ofLeaders.
Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standardsof Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process,including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention andevaluation for assigned patients
Addressesincreasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and socialneeds of patient and families in accordance with their level ofpractice
Using the appropriate protocol, administersmedications and treatments; monitors for side-effects andeffectiveness of the treatment prescribed
Documentspatient history, symptoms, medication, and care given
Assess learning needs and provides education to patients, familymembers and/or care givers; identify issues and resources

Implements patient care and therapeuticprocedures; monitors and documents progression of treatment andteaching goals

Must be able to perform unit-specificcompetencies based on the specific patient care need for thedesignated unit's patient population
Standard II.Patient Throughput & Patient Flow Process
Anticipates and plans for admission/discharge/transfer needs tofacilitate patient flow
Utilizes appropriate systemsof communication and tools to facilitate the discharge process
Coaches on tools and techniques for checking, crosschecking and validating orders to ensure accuracy.
Standard III. Unit Operations
Plans, directs, andevaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particularnursing unit during an assigned shift
Demonstratesgood stewardship in proper use and maintenance of equipment andSupplies
Assesses departmental staffing needs;actively participates in resourcing efforts.
Educatesand trains others on the operations, ethics, and regulations withinthe industry.

Incorporates patient safetypractices/guidelines to promote a safe environment resulting inpositive patient outcomes
Demonstrates accountabilityfor nursing research and quality improvement activities
Provides evidence-based nursing care

Educates and trains others on the operations,ethics, and regulations within the industry.
Knowledge of federal, state and local healthcare-related laws andregulations; ability to comply with these in healthcare practicesand activities.

Medical OrderProcessing
Shares experiences with processing medicalorders for one or more groups of patients or conditions
Describes functions and features of the system used toenter, validate, update and forward medical orders
Discusses common errors, their sources and procedures forcorrecting
Explains considerations for entering andfollowing standing orders
Differentiates betweenstanding orders and preprinted orders and considerations foreach
Patient Chart Reading and Interpretation
Describes experiences in reading and interpreting patientcharts for patients on unit and under own care
Reviewspatients' charts for completion and accuracy; identifies and alertsto mistakes or omissions
Recognizes unexpectedreadings and alerts nursing or medical staff
Relatesexamples of mis-readings or misinterpretations and lessonslearned
Reviews, discusses and validates owninterpretation with others
Patient Safety
Shares experiences with ensuring safety for one or more patientgroups or settings
Explains key features of safetyguidelines and procedures for those groups and settings
Listens and responds to safety inquiries from patients andfamily members
Recognizes and addresses physiologicaland psychological signs of problems
Describesconsiderations for patients who can cause to harm to self, versusharm to others
Utilizes appropriate systems todocument misses and near misses, participates in immediateinvestigating, analysis and reporting in real-time.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing,preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in the relatednursing specialty preferred.
  • BLSrequired
  • RN License in state of employment orcompact
