Community Information

The Louisiana city of Shreveport is one of the state's largest cities and also the seat of Caddo Parish. Seated on the banks of the Red River, Shreveport is linked in many ways with its sister city on the other side of the river, Bossier City. Many refer to the two cities as "Shreveport-Bossier." Situated in the northwest corner of the state near the borders of Texas and Arkansas, Shreveport serves as the commercial and cultural center of the tri-state region, a region which is widely considered to be the border between the West and the South.

The Red River is the heart and soul of Shreveport, a cultural and gaming center on the Louisiana/Texas border. Riverboat casinos evoke the glamour and mystery of the past while providing modern travelers with thrills and excitement. If the tables aren't your style, take a trip over the neon-lit Texas Street Bridge to the horse-racing at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, Shreveport's thriving sister city. Visitors can explore the city's expansive Louisiana Boardwalk that includes a huge shopping and entertainment complex and enjoy the area's fine waterfront dining. Shreveport is also renowned for its historic landmarks and sizzles in the summertime with a temperate climate for the rest of the year.
