SOFTWARE ENGINEER (NONDESTRUCTIVE EVALUATION)We are looking for good people and driven, adaptable, resilient software engineers with experience developing software to accelerate quality, speed, and efficiency of manufacturing processes at SpaceX.Our team is building out the next generation of in-process monitoring tools for SpaceX as we develop the Starship and Starlink programs while scaling up the Falcon and Dragon programs. Our team consists of engineers developing best in class in process monitoring solutions for data collection and automated analysis. We use statistical analysis, automated defect recognition, and machine learning to support and expedite the company's manufacturing rate and quality goals. We also develop reliable, scalable, and efficient numerical analysis solvers to support these processes via simulation.
RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and own process monitoring software for a variety of SpaceX production locations and programsDesign and write the software to connect hardware and tooling to process monitoring systemsWork with data pipelines from production line to web application interfacesWork closely with simulation and machine learning experts to link model outputs to process inputsDeep dive into your users' problems to find and create efficient solutionsWork closely with our production engineers and technicians to provide the best first principles solution to their needsParticipate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologiesReview code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (eg, style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency)BASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline and 5+ years of software development experience; OR 7+ years of professional experience building softwareExperience in full stack development, software engineering, data engineering, or data sciencePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEProgramming experience in Python, C+, or similar object-oriented languageExperience deploying applications to production with Docker and KubernetesExperience integrating sensors and automation with in-house solutionsExperience with web development frameworks such as Flask, SQLAlchemy and FastAPIExperience working with stream data processing using Apache Kafka or similar technologiesFront-end experience in React or similar JavaScript UI frameworksDatabase experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar database technologiesGood understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment and monitoringGood understanding of statistics, machine learning algorithms and frameworksExperience with Linux applications and server componentsComputer Vision experience in libraries such as OpenCVMachine Learning and machine learning operations experienceADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to work extended hours and weekends as necessaryAbility to travel to other SpaceX sites as neededCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Pay Range: Software Engineer/Senior: $160,000.00 - $220,000.00/per year Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
