As the Space Systems Business Development Specialist you are responsible for leading and working closely with Viasat executive leadership to develop and execute a strategic vision to take Viasat resilient space mission solutions to a higher level of impact and influence within the commercial, civil, and military space market segments.The day-to-dayYou are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who is passionate in charting new directions, driving needle-moving results, and doing things that have never been done before.

To quickly engage in one of our newest business areas and leverage Viasat's portfolio, you will use your established relationships within the space industry and other end-user and acquisition communities to directly collaborate with existing Viasat partners and to expand and establish a new and diverse customer base over time. You will have a strong interest in pursuing business growth and innovation including understanding and contributing to business area strategies and developing a deep understanding of how to combine Viasat technologies and capabilities to address customer problems. You will use these skills and enduring customer relationships to help define product roadmaps, evaluate and establish business partnerships, win new business, and help drive other aspects of operating an innovative, results-driven resilient space business.

You will bring energy and creativity to the creation and delivery of impactful client presentations and proposals that address the specific needs of a customer with attention to organization, detail, and quality including facilitation of group presentations. You have a proven track record of developing and implementing strategic plans and building collaborative relationships with the ability to interact with key thought leaders and customers to remain relevant, create potential opportunities, and participate in strategic and industry events for lead generation.What you'll need5+ years' experience selling space systems, space technologies, and communications technologies to the Federal government and commercial sectorsProven ability to establish and cultivate strategic relationships leveraging an established network of contacts within the space industry, to include government/industry decision-makers at satellite operators, prime contractors/system integrators, component suppliers, and acquisition agenciesExperience collaborating with current and potential customers on applications for, and the use of, leading-edge space communications, networking, information technology, and security solutionsDemonstrated ability to manage all phases of the business development cycle to successfully close on pursuits, including opportunity development, proposal development, implementation estimating, project scoping, client presentations, and negotiationUnderstanding of space missions and the current challenged faced within the communityDemonstrated ability to think creatively in leveraging existing technologies to help realize new-space or advance systems conceptsFamiliarity with DoD space missions, architectures, and CONOPS and the DoD federal acquisition processProven experience developing go-to-market strategies, including sales, distribution, marketing and customer retention plansBachelor's Degree in technical fieldUS Government position.

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
