This individual is expected to bring deep experience in embedded software development and low-level programming.
Collaboration with other engineers on the Systems team will be a standard part of the workflow, as this role resides at the exciting cross-section of power conversion, battery performance, and control systems.What You'll Do:Take ownership of the design, implementation, and completion of microcontroller firmware for embedded system, sensors, and power flow control circuitry as part of a complete BMSCollaborate with hardware and controls engineers to architect the control topology, microcontroller and peripheral selection, sensor properties, and algorithms.Derive and lead software and hardware specifications and design features based on product requirements and system design specificationsManage software development deliverables through the entire software development cycle, including design, development, debugging, validation, release, and quality processesSynthesize outputs from battery test data and models to implement algorithms for system performance and lifetimeWork with an interdisciplinary group of engineers on the Systems Team to define concepts, downselect designs, and optimize a new groundbreaking technologyWhat You'll Bring:Excitement and willingness to learn as a member of a rapidly growing multi-disciplinary engineering teamMinimum 7+ years of experience in firmware development for embedded systems; direct experience working on Battery Management or Power Electronics firmware is a plusExtensive knowledge and experience using C/C+ for firmware in real-time, multithreaded control applicationsFamiliarity with software compliance standards (ie MISRA, ISO 26262, CMMI, ASPICE, or UL 1998) Deep knowledge of peripheral communication protocols such I2C and SPI and component-to-component protocols such as Modbus and CANExperience with defining and or assessing software reliability, failure modes, and fault reactionsStrong knowledge of firmware development process and life cycleis a cornerstone of Form Energy's culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that.
