Institutional Securities Technology (IST) develops and oversees the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. An experienced Java developer is required to join a Tier 1 investment bank supporting the Equity Swaps Trading technology group. This is a global front-office team that supports the global OTC Equity Swap Portfolio, Single Name, and Index derivative businesses. This is a Java middleware developer position and you will contribute to the various front to back systems used by the Equity Swaps Trading desk to manage the life cycle of the Equity Swap product.

You will be responsible for developing system enhancements and fixes, writing quality unit tests, liaising closely with business users, producing release notes, providing support in the UAT testing stages, coordinating release signoff, assisting in the release and deployment activities, and providing production support post-deployment.We are looking for someone to help own problems and be able to demonstrate leadership and responsibility for the delivery of key features. The candidate should have good analytical skills, strong software engineering skills, a logical approach to problem solving, and be able to liaise with various stakeholders to understand complex requirements.

This role suits people experienced in complex data domains. Agile is a key initiative for our team, to ensure that we can deliver value to the business whilst ensuring code quality and good software development practices are followed. Although the role is predominantly Java, we require someone who is flexible with the development environment, as some days you might be writing Java, and other days you might be writing stored procedures or scripts.

We discuss design, development, etc very regularly over calls/video conferencing tools. So good verbal and written communication, and ability to contribute and speak up effectively is necessary. A significant portion of the team have been in the same team for many years, so there are plenty of experienced people in the team to provide guidance and lend a hand.

However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
