Systems Engineer (Electro-Optics) (Permanent)

Location: Gloucestershire Country: UK Rate: £50k - £55k per annum + Exceptional Package
 

Position Available: Systems Engineer (Electro-Optics)

Location: Gloucestershire (Hybrid) & Dynamic Working Hours

Salary: Up to £55,000 + Paid Overtime & Company Bonus & Very Good Pension Package

Experience needed: Experience of systems engineering within a complex, high-technology engineering industry eg defence, aerospace, automotive, robotics, electronics, medical devices and similar. Knowledge of the technologies involved in Electro-Optical systems would be a bonus, but not essential.

About the role

We are a leading defence company who are at the forefront of innovation in the industry and your work will have a direct impact on the safety and security of the UK & our allies. We are currently looking for a Systems Engineer to work in our team who primarily focus on Electro-Optics (EO) technologies through the provision of specialist EO design support. You will be responsible for driving the technical direction of our products to meet challenging customer requirements by engaging and coordinating with wider specialist design teams and external entities to ensure we successfully deliver on our commitments.

What we need from you:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (Physics, Electronics, Systems, Aerospace or similar)
  • Experience in a relevant engineering industry
  • Experience with good systems engineering practices
  • Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to plan and control your work

A well-rounded Systems Engineer with experience across the full life cycle, including:

  • Requirements analysis, specifications and justification
  • System architecture design and modelling
  • System trade studies to inform design decisions
  • Technology maturation assessments and FMEA
  • Development of interface definitions
  • Systems proving, design assurance and certification

Any experience in the following would be a bonus:

  • Knowledge of the physics and technologies involved in Electro-Optical systems
  • Experience of model based engineering techniques, including SysML
  • Use of systems engineering tools (eg IBM DOORS Next, Rhapsody, etc)
